Office of Strategic Communication Redesign
This project involved an entire redesign of the Office of Strategic Communication (OSC) website, osc.uiowa.edu. It has been 7 years since a major redesign. It was redesigned in the fall of 2023 using Drupal CMS and moved to SiteNow v3 in order to ensure web brand standards across the University of Iowa. I worked with 9 task force team members from the leadership team in OSC, conducted usability testing on target audience demographics, gathered in-depth Google analytics, conducted a card sort to determine a new menu structure, laid out all site pages, wrote a majority of the site copy, and selected all site images. User testing was done through a combination of an Unbounce pop-up directing users to a Qualtrics survey and utilizing a Treejack test through Optimal Workshop.
The primary objectives of site efforts were focused on ensuring that the site had a clear and defined audience, streamlining content, showcasing OSC’s value, providing a centralized training page for users, consolidating interconnected content, and relocating the Pentacrest webcam to its new home at uiowa.edu. Additionally, many new functions were implemented in this version, including: refreshing page layouts, updated dynamic imagery, using a webform to reduce PDF clutter and optimizing user experience, and new calls-to-action throughout the site. This site follows AP style guidelines, which is the writing style of the University of Iowa. The site below was launched in fall 2023.
Additionally, this site was also selected to be featured as a presentation to conference attendees at the 2024 Higher Ed Web Annual Conference.
